HENRI DANGÈS (? 1872 – PARIS, 1958)

 

 

 

 

During the 1898-1902 seasons, he performed at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where in 1900, he sang a small role in the premiere of G. Charpentier’s Louise. In the 1902-03 season, he was engaged by the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and later sang at various French provincial theaters. In 1908, he made his debut at the Paris Grand Opera, appearing as Valentin in C. Gounod’s Faust, and continued to perform there with great success until 1912.

In 1911, he sang at the Grand Opera in the premiere of U. Giordano’s Siberia and also appeared that year in the opera Déjanire by C. Saint-Saëns. His career also included performances at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, where in 1911, he took on the role of Scarpia in Tosca, and in Cairo.

In 1905, he appeared at the Opéra National de Lyon in the premiere of F. Le Borne’s opera Les Girondins. During the 1911-12 season, he was a member of the Boston Opera. Remarkably, even in 1928, he made a guest appearance in Amsterdam, performing as Morales in Carmen.
