GEORGES NORÉ (MANS, FRANCE, 25. 05. 1910 – CHÂTEAU-RENAULT, FRANCE, 01. 02. 2001)

 

 

 

His real name was Georges Tournez. He made his debut at the Grand Opéra in Paris in 1935. At first, he appeared mostly in comprimario roles. In 1938, he substituted for the ill Georges Thill in Faust and sang with sensational success. From 1942, he also appeared at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, performing roles such as Alfredo in La Traviata, Gérald in Lakmé, Werther, Cavaradossi in Tosca, and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. He continued his appearances at both opera houses until 1956. He gave guest performances in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, London, and at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo in 1947. He retired from the stage in 1960. In 1952, he took part in the Opéra-Comique premiere of Lévy’s opera Dolorès.
