He was a racing car driver and mechanic at the Citroën car company. His voice was discovered while he was serving in the military. He studied singing under Léon David and Léon Escalaïs in Paris and made his debut in 1931 at the Opera of Rouen as Cavaradossi in Tosca. After World War II, he appeared in several sound films, and following his singing career, he served as the Director of the Opera in Nice. He retired from the stage in 1962. Luccioni’s son, Jacques (born January 25, 1930, in Paris), was initially an actor but later studied singing at the Conservatoire de Paris and made his debut in 1956 at the Opéra-Comique in Paris as José in Carmen.
