ALOIS HADWIGER (OLMÜTZ, 11 AUGUST, 1879 – GRAZ, 23 MARCH, 1948)

 

 

 

 

His voice was discovered by Cosima Wagner and was trained at the Bayreuth school by Julius Kniese. He made his debut in 1904 at the Bayreuth Festival as Froh in ”Rheingold”. In 1906 and 1908 he appeared with great success at Bayreuth as Parsifal. First he sang at the Court Theatre in Coburg, then from 1910 to 1918 at the Municipal Theatre in Bremen, in the 1918-1920 seasons at the Municipal Theatre of Graz, from 1921 to 1926 at the Municipal Theatre of Freiburg i. Br. and since 1927 at the Opera House in Kaiserslautern. In 1910 he was active temporarily at the Dresden Court Opera. After his retirement he led from 1933 to 1944 the Mecklenburg Land Theatre in Schwerin. There he still performed occasionally, among other things as Loge in ”Rheingold”.
