GIUSEPPE LENGHI-CELLINI (MODENA, 1881 – ?)
He earned a degree in law from the University of Bologna and studied music and singing as an amateur from childhood. He made his debut in 1907 at Pistoia (near Florence) in Rigoletto, after which he appeared in several important towns in Italy in various principal roles.
He first appeared in London at a Chappell Ballad Concert on October 9, 1909, and subsequently performed at major provincial and London concerts. In 1912, he sang at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, as a principal tenor in the roles of Don José in Carmen and Canio in Pagliacci. His favorite role was the Duke in Rigoletto.
Much of his activity in England was on the concert stage. He toured Australia in 1924 as a member of the “Cellini-Zacharewitsch-Cimara” Concert Company.
