THÉO BEETS (ANTWERP, 7 NOVEMBER, 1897 – BRASCHAAT, 1982)

 

 

 

 

He received his initial education in Leuven, followed by further studies in Antwerp, and finally in Brussels under the guidance of Demest and L. Swolfs. His operatic debut took place at the Théâtre Royal de Liège, where he performed the role of Jean in Massenet’s Hérodiade during the 1928/1929 season. Following this, he was active at the Royal Flemish Opera in Antwerp from 1932 until 1950. His career continued at the Théâtre Royal de Gand, where he performed from 1934 until 1955. His longevity and versatility made him a respected figure in Belgian opera during his time.
