Description

ALESSANDRO VALENTE (TURIN, 9 JANUARY, 1890 – ? 7 OCTOBER, 1958)

Already as a child, he sang in the opera choir of Verona. Later, he studied singing under Louis Scheiwein. In 1912, he moved to London and performed, albeit unsuccessfully, at the Hippodrome in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana under the composer’s management. He remained in England, adopting the stage name Alex Vallo, and worked in cabarets, variétés, and appeared in musicals. During the First World War, he served in the Italian army. After the war, he returned to Italy, and in 1924, he accompanied Luisa Tetrazzini as a supporting artist on her farewell tour. In 1931, he gave concerts in Berlin and performed on the Cologne radio station. He later resided in Italy, where he became an inventor, creating, among other things, a hanging device for curtains.
