AGNES KIMBALL (PRINCETON, INDIANA, U.S., OCTOBER 5, 1881 – SYLVANIA, OHIO, U.S., 1918)

She is one of those American singers whose careers took place almost exclusively in the recording studios of their time. She can be heard on many Victor records, which mostly feature popular light music and ballads that appealed to the wide audience of that era. However, among them are some opera excerpts that showcase her beautifully controlled, technically well-trained soprano voice. She can also be found on Edison Amberola cylinders, where she sang as the soprano of the Croxton Quartet (alongside alto Nevada van der Veer, tenor Reed Miller, and bassist Frank Croxton). Despite her popularity in the United States at the time, there is no evidence of her performing on stage or in concert halls, aside from a reported tour with Victor Herbert and his orchestra. She passed away in the early 1920s.
