UMBERTO URBANO (LIVORNO, ITALY, 16 OCTOBER, 1885 – ROME, ITALY, 16 JUNE, 1969)

 

 

 

 

He received his education in Milan and made his debut in Trieste in 1907. Little is known about the artist’s career, but in 1920, he appeared at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as the Herald in Lohengrin. In 1923, he sang the role of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor and Telramund in Lohengrin at La Scala. In 1924, he performed as Rigoletto at the Grand Opéra in Paris and the Brno Theater. In 1926, he was a guest artist at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.

In 1927, he guested at the Vienna Staatsoper and also appeared at Covent Garden in London, as well as on operatic stages in South America. During the 1930s, he performed frequently at the National Theater in Prague and the National Theater in Bratislava. In 1929, he made guest appearances at the Opera House of Frankfurt a.M. (as Renato in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera and as Rigoletto) and at the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden. In 1930, he performed at the Stuttgart Opera House. He also gave concerts in Berlin (1926), Vienna (1926, 1930), and Wroclaw (1934).
