DRAGO HRZIC (CARLO DRAGO HRZIC) (ZAGREB, CROATIA, 2 FEBRUARY, 1896 – ZAGREB, CROATIA, 21 NOVEMBER, 1978)
He first studied singing under M. Vuskovic in Zagreb and later became a pupil of Franz Steiner in Vienna. In 1919, he made his debut at the National Theater of Zagreb as Dako in the Croatian opera Povratak by Josip Hatze. He remained a distinguished member of this opera house until 1945. His repertoire included the title roles in Falstaff, Simon Boccanegra, Rigoletto, and Il Trovatore, as well as Michele in Il Tabarro, Eletsky in The Queen of Spades, and Escamillo in Carmen. In 1925, he made guest appearances at the Vienna State Opera and in Berlin.
