MILOSLAV JENÍK (TOCHOVICE, 12. 9. 1884 – PRAGUE, 30. 10. 1944)

 

 

 

 

He was a pupil of Emil Burian and B. Rosenkrancová in Prague. His debut took place in 1918 at the National Theatre in Prague as Hans in Smetana’s Prodaná nevěsta (The Bartered Bride), a role he performed on stage more than 500 times. He later continued his vocal studies with Benetti and Bavagnoli in Milan.

He was a successful guest artist in Zagreb, Bucharest, and Stockholm. His repertoire included Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Faust, Florestan in Fidelio, and Julien in Louise.

His artistic home remained Prague and its National Theatre, where he made his final appearance in Dvořák’s Rusalka in 1943.
