ALBERT ALEXANDER HØEBERG (COPENHAGEN, APRIL 26, 1879 – COPENHAGEN, JULY 21, 1949)

 

 

 

 

Høeberg was the brother of the conductor Georg Høeberg and the granddaughter of HC Lumbye . He made his debut in 1909 in the opera Kain by Eugen d’Albert. Until 1939 he was one of the leading singers at the Royal Danish Theatre in roles such as Wotan in Die Walküre, Marsk Stig in Drot og Marsk and the title role in The Flying Dutchman. He was appointed Royal Chamber Singer in 1917. On film he played the role of the bishop in Carl Th. Dreyer’s The Day of Wrath from 1943.

He became a Knight of the Dannebrog in 1922, a Dannebrogsmand in 1929 and received the Ingenio et arti in 1949.

Høeberg is buried at Bispebjerg Cemetery.
