Per Biørn was a distinguished Danish baritone renowned for his operatic roles and contributions to music education.

Early Career and Debut:

• Debut: Biørn made his professional debut in 1913 at the Hofoper in Berlin, performing the role of Heerrufer in Lohengrin by Richard Wagner.

Career Highlights:

• Royal Theater: Starting in 1917, he was employed at the Royal Theater (Royal Danish Opera), where he portrayed significant roles including:
  • Marsk Stig in Drot og Marsk by Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann
  • Wolfram in Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner
  • Germont in La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi
• Royal Chamber Singer: In 1934, Biørn was honored with the title of Royal Chamber Singer, a prestigious recognition of his contributions to Danish opera.

Honors and Contributions:

• Knight of the Dannebrog: Biørn was awarded the Knight of the Dannebrog, a Danish honor recognizing his service to the arts.
• Libretto Translations: He translated several opera librettos into Danish, contributing to the accessibility of works such as:
  • Andrea Chénier by Umberto Giordano
  • Fra Diavolo by Daniel Auber

Teaching Career:

• Singing Teacher: Biørn also served as a singing teacher, passing on his knowledge and experience to the next generation. One of his notable pupils was Else-Marie Hansen.
