Description

PAUL SCHMEDES (GENTOFTE, DANMARK SEPTEMBER 17, 1869 – VIENNA, AUSTRIA JULY 24, 1930)

 

 

 

 

His brother was the famous Danish tenor Erik Schmedes (1868-1931). After his apprenticeship, he had a notable career in Denmark, primarily as a concert singer, excelling in both oratorio and song recitals. There are several recordings of his voice: the earliest is a G&T record from Copenhagen (1904), followed by recordings on HMV, including the song cycle Schöne Müllerin by Schubert, as well as Pathé records and cylinders.
