This English singer was to be found in various English opera companies in the first decade of this century, including the Carl Rosa Opera Company, where he appeared as Telramund in “Lohengrin” and as Escamillo in “Carmen”. With these troops he toured England and gave concerts at the same time, the programs mostly consisting of popular ballad music. In 1911 he sang the role of Silvio in “Pagliacci” at the Covent Garden Opera in London. During the 1913-1914 season he was engaged by the Chicago Opera, where he took part in productions of C. Gounod’s “Faust” and “Carmen” in English. He later founded an opera school in England and arranged semi-professional opera performances.
