MICHELE GIOVACCHINI (FIRENZUOLA, BOLOGNA, 1868 – ?)

 

 

 

He made his debut in Italy around 1890. His greatest successes came in the United States, where he performed with various touring opera companies. His repertoire included Escamillo in Carmen, Tonio in Pagliacci, Marcello in La Bohème, Carlo in Ernani, and Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera. He likely retired from the stage around 1915.

He made his debut in 1879 at the Teatro Rossi in Pisa in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. He retired from the stage in 1912 and made two recordings.

EDMONDO GRANDINI (PARMA, 1882 – BRESCIA, 1952)

 

 

 

He studied singing at the Milan Conservatory under the vocal pedagogue Joseph Gallignani. He made his debut in 1908 at the Teatro Sociale in Crema, performing in La Traviata. After retiring from the stage, he taught singing in Brescia, where his pupils included Carlo Bergonzi and Giacinto Prandelli.

Alongside his musical studies, he pursued a university degree in medicine. In 1911, he was called by the prefect of Rovigo to assist in managing a cholera outbreak. In 1918, he served in the military. In 1914, he began a new career as a tenor, making his debut at the Teatro Storchi in Modena as Radamès in Aida.
