DANIEL VIGNEAU (LE BOUSCAT, 25 MARCH, 1881 – BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT, 6 MARCH, 1970)
He studied singing under Duvernoy at the Paris Conservatory and won a prize for his efforts. Vigneau made his debut at the Paris Opéra-Comique in 1907 and remained a prominent figure there for the next twenty years. Notably, he sang in several important premieres:
May 15, 1914: He performed in the premiere of Hugues Rabaud’s Marouf in the role of Ali.
1914: He was also part of the premiere of Manuel de Falla’s La vida breve.
1908: Created the role of Mizgir in the Paris premiere of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Snegourotchka.
1910: Featured in the premiere of Gabriel Pierné’s On ne badine pas avec l’amour.
1913: Took part in the premiere of Xavier Leroux’s Le Carilloneur.
Vigneau also performed in Nice, Monte Carlo, and appeared in notable premieres such as Édouard Chabrier’s Une Éducation manquée and Léon Sachs’ Les Burgraves in 1924. His career extended into the years following World War II, with guest appearances in Holland in 1924 and 1928.
