Description
HENRI BERRIEL
He was of French origin and initially pursued a career in medicine, graduating with a medical degree before transitioning to singing. His operatic debut took place in the early 1900s in Paris, where he performed in La Traviata and Carmen. Following successful performances, he joined the Opera House of Nice, appearing in Otello and Dolores by Tomás Bretón.
In 1904, he ventured to Italy, performing at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa in works such as La Damnation de Faust and Giordano’s Siberia. His career continued to flourish, and in 1910 he sang the role of Wotan in Die Walküre at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome.
A close friend of the renowned French dramatist Victorien Sardou, he was known not only for his artistic talents but also for his cultural associations. His wife, Amélie Talexis, was a celebrated soprano, adding to their prominence in the world of opera.
