GEORGES DURAND

 

 

 

Georges Durand was a French bass active during the 1910s–1920s. He appeared frequently at the Grand Théâtre de Tours, where he sang a variety of leading and character roles. In 1916, he performed Schaunard in Puccini’s La vie de bohème. He later returned to Tours in 1927 for Adam’s Si j’étais roi! and in 1928 as Ourrias in Gounod’s Mireille and as the Cardinal in Halévy’s La juive. In 1929, he appeared as Sergeant La Balafre in Benjamin Godard’s La vivandière. His repertoire demonstrates versatility across French and Italian opera, with a career rooted in the regional operatic tradition of Tours.
