CHARLOTTE MARIE AGUSSOL (TOULON, 1863 – PARIS, 1953)
She studied at the Conservatoire de Paris until 1887 and made her debut at the Paris Grand Opéra in 1888, performing the role of Urbain in Meyerbeer’s Gli Ugonotti. That same year, she sang Stéphano in the premiere of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, sharing the stage with renowned artists like Adelina Patti, Jean and Édouard de Reszke, Jean-François Delmas, and Léon Melchissédec.
Her career at the Grand Opéra continued to flourish, with significant performances, including singing in the French premiere of Wagner’s Walkiria in 1893. In 1899, she performed as Ascagne in the premiere of Berlioz’s La Prise de Troie, further establishing her reputation. Later in her career, she continued her association with the Grand Opéra, appearing regularly in comprimario roles.
