GERMAINE FÉRALDY (MONTAUBAN (TARN-ET-GARONNE), 6 SEPTEMBER, 1894 – TOULOUSE, FRANCE, 19 JUNE, 1949)

She was trained at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Toulouse and later at the Conservatoire de Paris. Early in her career, she appeared on various French provincial opera stages. In 1924, she joined the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where she made her debut as Micaela in Carmen. She remained active at the Opéra-Comique until 1942, gaining great success in roles such as Manon, Marguerite in Faust, and Violetta in La Traviata.

She also participated in significant premieres at the Opéra-Comique, including the role of Natilde in Le bon Roi Dagobert (December 5, 1927) and Marie in the first French performance of B. Smetana’s The Bartered Bride in 1920. Her guest appearances included performances in Nice, Monte Carlo (1921 as Nedda in Pagliacci), Brussels, and London. In 1938, she performed in Rio de Janeiro in C. Gounod’s Mireille and A. Adam’s Si j’étais Roi.

She was also a successful concert singer. After retiring from the stage, she became a professor at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Toulouse.
