EMILE MARCELIN (ROUBAIX, 1885 – ROUBAIX, 1947)

In 1908, he participated in a song competition for amateur singers in France. From 1912, he was a member of the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where he performed until 1930. He made his debut there in his signature role, Werther. On January 9, 1919, he sang the role of Werther in the 500th performance of Massenet’s opera at the Opéra-Comique. His career continued until the late 1930s with appearances on French and Belgian stages, as well as in concert halls. Later, he became a pedagogue and professor at the Roubaix Conservatory.
