HENRI SAINT-CRICQ (BRETAGNE, FRANCE, 1 FEBRUARY, 1901 – BERCQ, FRANCE, 6 OCTOBER, 1973)
He studied singing at the Conservatoire de Paris. Around 1930, he began performing at both major opera houses in Paris: the Grand Opéra (1932–1936, debuting as Lohengrin) and the Opéra-Comique. He achieved his greatest successes in dramatic roles, including Samson in Samson et Dalila by Saint-Saëns, Radamès in Aida, Otello in Verdi’s Otello, Sigurd in Reyer’s Sigurd, Faust in Berlioz’s La damnation de Faust, and Don José in Carmen.
He made guest appearances in the French provinces but does not appear to have performed abroad. In 1955, he retired from the stage and subsequently worked as a vocal pedagogue.
