JEAN MARNY (PARIS, 2 NOVEMBER, 1885 – ?)

 

 

 

 

He began his career in 1911 and achieved great success as a member of the Opéra-Comique in Paris. His first role at this opera house was Werther in 1917. In 1920, he performed in the premiere of La Rôtisserie de la Reine Pédauque by Charles Lavadé. During the 1920s, he also made guest appearances at the opera houses of Monte Carlo, Marseille, Nice, and various provincial stages in France. His best roles included Des Grieux and Werther. In 1943, he became the manager of the opera house in Marseille. His artistic name was Jean Marny, but his real name was Jean Cèbe.
