MAURICE DUTREIX (PARIS, 18 SEPTEMBER, 1884 – PARIS, 21 JUNE, 1932)

He studied at the Paris Conservatoire and made his debut in 1912 at the Paris Grand Opéra as Lansmoor in Fervaal by Vincent d’Indy. In 1914, he performed at the Grand Opéra in the premiere of Richard Wagner’s Parsifal. He maintained a significant career at this opera house until 1925.

His repertoire included roles such as the Duke in Rigoletto, Jean in Hérodiade by Jules Massenet, Lohengrin, Radames in Aida, and Dimitri in Boris Godunov by Modest Mussorgsky. In 1928, at the Grand Opéra, he participated in the premiere of Gian Francesco Malipiero’s Sept Chansons.

He also made notable guest appearances. In 1924, he performed at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo as Nicias in Thaïs by Jules Massenet, Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Faust in Gounod’s Faust, and Samson in Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns. In 1926, he returned to Monte Carlo, reprising the roles of Nicias and Dimitri in Boris Godunov.
