PAUL GRÜMMER (GERA, GERMANY, FEBRUARY 26, 1879 – ZUG, SWITZERLAND, OCTOBER 30, 1965)

 

 

 

 

Paul Grümmer studied at the conservatory in Leipzig under Julius Klengel. He played at the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. He also became known as a member of the Busch Quartet, to which he belonged until 1930, and the Stross Quartet (1929 and 1937-1940). In 1942, together with the violinist Váša Příhoda and the pianist Michael Raucheisen he founded the Meistertrio. He taught temporarily at the Vienna Conservatory. Among his students was Nikolaus Harnoncourt (1944-1948).
