BENNO HABERL (VIENNA, 1875 – WEIMAR, 1942)

 

 

 

 

He began his stage career in 1909 at the Court Theatre in Weimar and continued to perform there until his retirement in 1932. During his time in Weimar, he participated in several notable opera premieres. He sang in the premieres of Richard Wagner’s Parsifal and Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, solidifying his reputation in the German operatic scene. Additionally, he took part in the premiere of Eugene Bodart’s opera Hirtenlegende on December 19, 1930.

Besides his work on the opera stage, he became renowned as a concert and oratorio singer, particularly in Central Germany. Following his retirement from performing, he transitioned to a career as a vocal pedagogue in Weimar, where he passed on his knowledge to the next generation of singers.
