 CASPAR KOCH (KÖLN, 1889 – KÖLN, 5 DECEMBER, 1952)

After his education in Cologne, he was engaged by the Opera House in Cologne for the 1917-1926 seasons. In the 1927-1928 season, he worked at the Opera House in Düsseldorf and also performed at the Bayreuth Festival in 1927 as Froh in Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold. In the same season, he sang at the Berlin Kroll Opera, where he performed the title role in the German premiere of Igor Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex in 1928.

His other stage roles included Tannhäuser, Parsifal, Max in Der Freischütz, Canio in Pagliacci, and Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana. He retired from the stage in 1928 and subsequently worked as a pedagogue in Cologne.
