Description
WILLY SCHÜLLER
He began his stage career in 1902 at the Municipal Theatre of Essen, followed by engagements at the Vienna Volksoper from 1904 to 1906. He then joined the Lortzing Theatre in Berlin for one season before embarking on a U.S. tour during the 1907-08 season. After returning to Germany, he settled in Berlin, from where he frequently performed as a guest on various German stages. In 1910, he completed a successful tour in Holland. In the 1911-12 season, he assumed management of the Wilhelm-Theater in Magdeburg, where he also performed as a singer.
His repertoire was diverse, featuring roles such as Tamino in The Magic Flute, Lyonel in Flotow’s Martha, Fenton in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, Faust in Gounod’s Faust, Don José in Carmen, and Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana. He was married to soprano Hanna Mara. Further details about his career remain unclear, but his varied engagements reflect his flexibility and appeal across German opera stages.
