HEDWIG FASSBAENDER

Hedwig Fassbaender was a violinist active in Germany and Switzerland during the 1920s. She appeared in concert and radio performances in the interwar period and is documented in a 1925 Zurich radio broadcast, performing violin repertoire by composers such as Corelli, accompanied by pianist Max Siegrist and orchestra.

She was also a member of the Fassbaender-Rohr Trio, an ensemble active in Germany in the 1920s, which made commercial recordings for the Homocord label. The trio’s recordings place her within the early German recording industry and confirm her professional standing as a chamber musician. Hedwig Fassbaender is likely to have belonged to a musical German-Swiss family, possibly connected with the composer Peter Fassbaender (1869–1920), whose children were active as performers.

Although detailed biographical data remain scarce, surviving broadcast listings and recordings attest to her activity as a violinist in the European musical life of the interwar years.
