GOTTFRIED GALSTON (VIENNA, AUGUST 31, 1879 – ST. LOUIS, APRIL 2, 1950)
He was a pupil of Leschetizky in Vienna, and of Jadassohn and Reinecke at the Leipzig Cons., and from 1903 to 1907 he taught at the Stern Cons, in Berlin. On his extended concert tours, he proved himself a player of keen analytical powers and intellectual grasp. In 1902 he toured Australia, and then Germany, France, and Russia. In 1912–13 he toured America, and also toured Russia 11 times (last, in 1926). He returned to the U.S. in 1927 and settled in St. Louis. He publ. a Studienbuch (1909; 3rd ed., Munich, 1920) and analytical notes to a series of 5 historical recitals.
