LAJOS KISS (DEBRECEN, HUNGARY, JULY 4, 1902 – BUDAPEST, HUNGARY, JANUARY 20, 1951)

 

 

 

 

He was one of the best Hungarian violinists of his time. Already at the age of eight he played in his father’s orchestra. He came to Budapest with his own ensemble (1925), but soon went abroad. For years He has performed with his band in Vienna and Berlin. During one of the external broadcasts from St. Moritz, he was asked for a repetition of Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C Sharp Minor, which occurred during the broadcast of that time. A few days later, three American tourists arrived in Hungary and thanked him personally for their request. Lajos Kiss played in several old sound films.
