Description
MAGDA SZEMERE (? 1898 – ?)
Magda Szemere was a renowned Hungarian violinist who gained recognition in Europe before World War II. She was highly regarded for her skill and artistry, particularly in her performances across Europe. However, her career was tragically interrupted by the rise of the Nazi regime.
In the years following the outbreak of World War II, Szemere was arrested, and she ultimately disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The exact details of her fate remain unclear, and her disappearance has been the subject of much speculation. Despite her promising career, she is remembered as one of the many artists whose lives and potential were tragically cut short by the events of the war.
Her most celebrated achievement was her interpretation of Sarasate
Magda made her debut at the age of twelve in Budapest, and records in the Vienna Symphony archives list her as a soloist in performances during her teenage years. In the later period of her life, she was active as a conductor, leading a salon orchestra.
