GINO VANELLI (BERGAMO, 26 MARCH, 1896 – MONZA, 9 APRIL, 1969)

 

 

 

 

He studied singing in Milan with Dante Lari and made his debut at the Teatro Olimpia in Bassano del Grappa, performing in G. Verdi’s La Traviata and Il Trovatore. In 1924, he appeared at the Teatro Alhambra in Alessandria in Lucia di Lammermoor. From 1926 to 1928, he performed at La Scala, singing in Manon, La Bohème, and Hänsel und Gretel. At the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, he portrayed Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana in 1934.

In 1932, he appeared at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome in the premiere of A. Casella’s La Donna Serpente and, two years later, in L. Refice’s Cecilia. At the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, he participated in the premieres of Argentine operas such as Crisantemi by P. del Sar (1927) and Frenos by R. H. Espoile (1928). He likely retired from the stage in 1952.
