In the 1936-1943 seasons and also after the Second World War (1951-1954) she was constantly to be found at the La Scala. There she made her debut as Meg Page in G. Verdi’s ‘Falstaff’ (1936). After the Second World War she had great success with guest appearances in France, England, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and South America. In the 1947-1948 season she was a member of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she made a sensational debut as Azucena in ‘Trovatore’. There she also sang the role of Ulrica in G. Verdi’s ‘Ballo in maschera’, Maddalena in ‘Rigoletto’ and her special star role, the Quickly in ‘Falstaff’. In 1948 she appeared as Quickly and Azucena at the San Francisco Opera.
