GINA MORETTI STEFANI (? 1874 – MILAN, 1914)
She was married to the baritone Guido Stefani and was a distinguished soprano of her time. It is believed that she made her operatic debut in 1902 at the Teatro Umberto I° as Elvira in Bellini’s I Puritani. Her career swiftly gained momentum, leading to international engagements.
During the 1905-1906 season, she made guest appearances at the Teatro San Martín in Buenos Aires, where she performed in a diverse repertoire that included La Bohème, Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, Mignon, Faust, and Carmen. Her performances were met with critical acclaim, showcasing her versatility and dramatic expressiveness.
In 1911, she appeared at the Warsaw Opera, further solidifying her reputation as a skilled and sought-after artist. Shortly thereafter, she retired from the stage in 1912, leaving behind a legacy of artistry marked by her memorable interpretations of both Italian and French operatic roles.
