Description

IVO ZACCARI (CANUZZO DI RAVENNA, 1873 – MILAN, 1945)

The Italian tenor you’re referring to studied in Florence with Elettra Callery Villani and made his debut in 1896 at the Teatro Rossini in Venice in La Favorita. He gained early recognition in 1898 when he performed as Rodolfo in the premiere of G. Puccini’s La Bohème at the Teatro Regio in Parma, with Salomea Kruszelnicka as Mimì. Throughout the first decade of the twentieth century, he appeared at various Italian opera houses, contributing to the rich operatic culture of the time. His career, while significant during his active years, seems to have faded from widespread memory, making him a somewhat forgotten figure in the history of Italian opera.
