When he was 14, his family emigrated to North America. He studied singing in Boston but returned to Italy during World War I and made his debut in 1918 in Savona as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor. His repertoire at prominent Italian opera stages included the Duke in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Elvino in Bellini’s La Sonnambula, and Almaviva in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia. In 1927, he married the renowned prima donna Lina Pagliughi, and they often performed together, including at the Italian Opera in Holland during the 1929-1930 season. After retiring, probably around 1941, he co-founded a singing school in Milan with his wife.
