RENO ANDREINI (ALSO SPELLED REMO) (C. 1875–1880 IN FLORENCE – AFTER 1924)

 

 

 

 

He made his debut at the Teatro Nicolini in Florence in 1902, singing Arturo in I Puritani by Vincenzo Bellini with Luisa Tetrazzini. In 1903, he performed as a guest at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, followed by an appearance in 1904 at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, where he sang Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana (alongside Eugenia Burzio and Pasquale Amato), Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, and Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Maria Barrientos. His return to Teatro Massimo in 1915 saw him take on the role of Cavaradossi in Tosca.

In 1905, he performed Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. By 1906, he had traveled with an Italian opera troupe to St. Petersburg and Moscow, singing the Duke in Rigoletto. At the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in 1910, he performed as Milio in Zazà by Ruggiero Leoncavallo. In 1916, he spent a season in Havana, where he appeared in La Traviata, Lucia di Lammermoor, and La Sonnambula, partnering with the celebrated soprano Amelita Galli-Curci.

In 1917, he returned to Teatro Costanzi, performing as José in Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Dick Johnson in La Fanciulla del West by Puccini. His 1924 appearance in Holland featured a performance in La Traviata, sharing the stage with the renowned soprano Gemma Bellincioni.
