TITO SCHIPA (LECCE, 27 DECEMBER, 1888 – NEW YORK CITY, 16 DECEMBER, 1965)

 

 

 

 

His real name was Raffaele Attilio Amedeo Schipa. He initially studied singing with Alceste Gerunda in Lecce before continuing his training under Emilio Piccoli in Milan. He made his operatic debut in 1909 at the Teatro Politeama Facchinetti in Vercelli, performing the role of Alfredo in G. Verdi’s La Traviata.
