SIMON EDWARDSEN (FREDRIKSTAD, NORWAY,  26 OCTOBER, 1892 – STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, 25 JULY, 1979)

 

 

 

 

From 1915 to 1919, he was a pupil of Poul Bang in Copenhagen. In 1919, he began his stage career, initially performing at smaller opera societies in Denmark and Norway. During the 1925-1927 seasons, he sang at the Stora Teatern in Gothenburg. From 1927 to 1950, he was a member of the Royal Opera in Stockholm. In the 1951-1955 seasons, he was engaged by the National Theatre in Reykjavik, and from 1953 to 1954, he performed at the National Opera in Helsinki. In the 1960-1961 season, he again was a soloist at the Riksteatern in Stockholm. During his time at the Stockholm Opera, he was also active as a director. His repertoire included roles such as Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Mime and Loge in the Ring Cycle, Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte, and others.
