HENRYK DRZEWIECKI (KUTNO, 19 JANUARY, 1871 – WYSZKÓW, 4 OCTOBER, 1937)

 

 

 

 

He earned a doctoral degree in law from the University of Saint Petersburg while simultaneously studying at the Conservatory. He then traveled to Italy for further vocal training with Italian pedagogues. His operatic debut took place in Valencia, Spain, where he performed as Rigoletto in Verdi’s Rigoletto. Following this, he appeared in Italian theaters, including Venice, Modena, and Livorno. In 1900, he joined the Lwów Theatre, where he performed until 1902 and also appeared in Kraków during this period.

Afterward, he moved to the Grand Theatre in Warsaw, debuting there in 1902 in Moniuszko’s Straszny dwór. At the Grand Theatre, he also took on prominent roles in operas such as Halka, La Traviata, and Faust, with additional guest performances in Kraków and Lviv. His powerful voice and skill garnered praise from critics.

After World War I, he transitioned back to law, serving as a judge at the County Court in Radom. By the 1920s, he had relocated to Las Vegas, where he partnered in a law firm of notaries and contributed articles to magazines, blending his expertise in law with his experience in the arts.
