WŁADYSŁAW FLORIAŃSKI (LVIV, UKRAINE, 4 MAY, 1854 – LVIV, UKRAINE, 11 APRIL, 1911)

The real name of this forgotten Polish tenor was Florian Koman. He studied at the Academy of Lviv with A. Souvestre and made his debut in 1884 at the Opera Theatre of Lviv as Janusz in Palestran by Millöcker. He performed on the opera stages of Lviv up to 1886, then moved to Prague, where he was engaged by the National Theatre. He appeared at this theatre from 1886 to 1898, and in 1898, Koman was engaged by the Grand Theatre of Warsaw, where he stayed until 1906. In 1906, he joined the Opera Theatre of Lviv as both a singer and director and remained there until the end of his life. He also sang in Berlin, Hamburg, and Vienna. He was a highly successful interpreter of Wagnerian roles, including Tannhäuser and Lohengrin.
