CAPITON ZAPOROJETZ (MOSCOW, RUSSIA, 1880 – PARIS, FRANCE, 1937)

 

 

 

 

His real surname was Kononov. He studied singing privately with S. Lapinsky. From 1908 to 1911 and again from 1914 into the 1920s, he was a soloist at S. Zimin’s Opera House in Moscow, making his debut in 1908 as Marcel in G. Meyerbeer’s Gli Ugonotti. From 1911 to 1914, he performed at the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre.

In 1909 and 1913, he sang in S. Dyagilev’s Russian Seasons in Paris. In 1911, he made guest appearances in Rome, London, and Paris, and in 1913, he performed in Europe and the USA.

From the 1920s to the 1930s, he was a member of the Russian Private Opera in Paris. He also gave performances in Bulgaria (1921), Vienna (1922), Barcelona (1922, 1927), Monte Carlo (1925), Berlin (1928), London, and Kishinev during the 1930s.
