EMILIA VERGERI

 

 

 

Emilia Sanchez Vergeri was a talented opera singer whose career spanned several prominent venues. In 1917, she performed at the Teatro Colón in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello, sharing the stage with Enrico Arenson and Roberto Viglione. Two years later, in 1919, she reprised her collaboration with Roberto Viglione, appearing as Aida in Verdi’s Aida at the Teatro Colón in Santo Domingo.

Her career extended to the United States, where she was a member of the Philadelphia La Scala Opera Company. In 1925, she gave a notable performance as Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. Her artistry and repertoire reflected her versatility and deep engagement with the dramatic soprano roles of Italian opera.
