Description
LUIS CANALDA (LLUÍS CANALDA I SALAMÓ) (SANTA BARBARA, MONTSIÀ, 1890 – BARCELONA, NOVEMBER 23, 1961)
This artist made a significant impact early in his career, debuting at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid as Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana in 1913. A year later, in 1914, he performed as Canio in Pagliacci at the prestigious Teatro Liceo in Barcelona. His talent shone especially in the realm of Wagnerian opera, where he became a notable interpreter of Heldentenor roles, particularly throughout Spain and Italy during the 1910s and 1920s.
