ROSALIE “ROSA” GRÜNBERG (STOCKHOLM, 4 JANUARY, 1878 – STOCKHOLM, 11 APRIL, 1960)
She was a pupil of pedagogues J. Jacobsson, Gillis Bratt, and Signe Hebbe in Stockholm. In 1898, she made her debut at the Svenska Theater in Stockholm as Inga in Bröllopet på Ulvåsa. A few weeks later, she appeared at the Vasatheater in Stockholm in Heuberger’s Opernball. From 1898 to 1902, she performed with great success at the Vasa Theater in Stockholm. During the 1902–1904 seasons, she sang at the Östermalmstheater in Stockholm and undertook a tour with Ranft’s Operetta Troupe throughout Scandinavia. Her repertoire also included the title role in Offenbach’s Schöne Helena and Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia. Between 1906 and 1914, she was a leading star of the Oscartheater in Stockholm. She was also invited to appear at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, where in the 1914–1915 season she achieved great success as Leonora in Il trovatore and as Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana. She retired from the stage in 1916.
