KNUT ÖHRSTRÖM (STOCKHOLM, 17/6 1885 – STOCKHOLM, 17/9 1964)

 

 

 

 

First, he studied singing under John Östergren in Stockholm and later with Vittorio Vanza in Milan. He made his debut in 1916 at the Royal Opera in Stockholm as Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana. Until 1924, he remained a member of this theatre, where he achieved success in roles such as Radamès in Aida, Don José in Carmen, Samson in Samson et Dalila, and Lohengrin. Together with the composer Hugo Alfvén, he undertook a tour of the USA. In 1930, he retired from the stage and subsequently worked as a pedagogue in Stockholm.
