Description
TOLLEFSEN TRIO
The Tollefsen Trio consisted of Carl Tollefsen (violin), Augusta Tollefsen (piano) and Paul Kefer (cello). They made recordings for Edison, Victor and Columbia, but were mostly known for their concert performances and recitals. Over the years, several different cellists (Willem Durieux, Youry Bilstin) performed with the trio. Mr and Mrs Tollefsen began performing in their home-city, Brooklyn, NY. They were well known teachers of music that gradually widened their activities to giving concerts performing in many cities across the United States. The trio was first formed in 1904 and continued into the 1940s. Their repertory was primarily classical chamber music with occasional folk and spirituals.
