He received his education in Italy and made his debut in 1885 at the Teatro Lirico in Barcelona as Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor. He gained fame particularly for his portrayal of the title role in Verdi’s Otello, becoming one of the leading interpreters of this role alongside Francesco Tamagno. His performance of Otello was notable at La Scala in 1889, where he appeared with Victor Maurel as Iago, and at the Teatro Regio in Parma during the opera’s premiere in 1887.

He enjoyed a successful career at major Italian opera houses and performed in Spain and South America. Notably, on November 19, 1890, he appeared as Otello in the opening night of the Teatro Argentina in La Plata, Argentina. After retiring from the stage, he focused on teaching.
